  • "child abuse"
    • (1891).  1. Intentional or neglectful physical or emotional harm inflicted on a child, including sexual molestation; esp. a parent's or caregiver's act or failure to act that results in a child's exploitation, serious physical or emotional injury, sexual abuse, or death.  2. An act or failure to act that presents an imminent risk of serious harm to a child.  Black's Law Dictionary, 11 (9th ed.)
  • "abused child"
    • A child who has been subjected to physical or mental neglect or harm.  Black's Law Dictionary, 271 (9th ed.)
  • "child neglect"
    • (1930).  The failure of a person responsible for a minor to care for the minor's emotional or physical needs.  Black's Law Dictionary, 1133 (9th ed.)
