The Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection Clause by Rochelle Chiappetta: Court Rules

The Supreme Law of the Land

Why Are Court Rules Important?

Court rules are essentially guidelines for how the court wants a document to be submitted, such as indicators of what font size to use. There are also other rules such as the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. These rules instruct on all matters throughout the litigation process, such as a rule that indicates why a document may be dismissed. There can be different rules for different subjects- such as criminal and domestic matters.

  • Be careful to confirm that you have looked at all applicable court rules to your specific issue.
  • Be careful to confirm you are in the correct jurisdiction. Although this specific LibGuide will be speaking on the court rules for the Middle District of Florida, a jurisdictional map has been provided at the bottom of this page in case a viewer is not located in this jurisdiction.
