Definitions from Black's Law

Medical Malpractice Terms and Definitions:

Medical Malpractice: A doctor's failure to exercise the degree of care and skill that a physician or surgeon of the samemedical specialty would use under similar circumstances. 

Standard of Care: In the law of negligence, the degree of care that a reasonable person should exercise.

Causation: The causing or producing of an effect <the plaintiff must prove causation>.

 

Expert Testimony Terms and Definitions:

Expert Evidence: Evidence about a scientific, technical, professional, or other specialized issue given by a person qualified to testify because of familiarity with the subject or special training in the field.

Expert Witness. A witness qualified by knowledge, skill, experience, training, or education to provide a scientific, technical, or other specialized opinion about the evidence or a fact issue.

Summary of Secondary Sources

Secondary sources involve generalization, analysis, synthesis, interpretation, or evaluation of the original information, or primary sources.
